∴ Percentage of such numbers = $${14}/{70} × 100$$ = 20%.

When the price of a product was decreased by 10%, the number sold increased by 30%. What was the effect on the total revenue?

Ans: B
Let the original price of commodity be Rs. x
Due to decrease in price by 10%, new price = 0.9x.
Selling quantity increased by 30%
∴ Effect on revenue = 0.9x × 1.3 = 1.17x
∴ Selling of commodity increased by 17%.
Effect on revenue = (-10 + 30 - 3)% = 17%.

The students who do not read Hindi = 100 - 70 = 30
Number of boys = 40; Number of girls = 60
Number of girls who does not read Hindi = 20% of 60 = 12
Number of boys who does not read Hindi = 30 - 12 = 18
∴ No. of boys who reads Hindi = 40 – 18 = 22
∴ Percentage of boys who read Hindi = $${22}/{40}$$ × 100 = 55%.

Anil’s monthly income is 30% more than Ashok’s. Ashok’s monthly income is 10% less than Manoj’s. If the difference between the monthly income of Anil and Manoj is Rs. 1360, what is the monthly income of Ashok?

(C) Rs. 7200
(D) Rs. 9000
Ans: C
Let the monthly income of Manoj be 100.
∴ Ashok’s income = $${90}/{100}× 100$$ = 90
Monthly income of Anil = $${130}/{100} × 90$$ = Rs. 117
Difference between income of Anil and Manoj = 117 - 100 = Rs. 17
∴ Monthly income of Ashok for a difference in salary of Rs. 1360
= $${90}/ {17} × 1360$$ = Rs. 7200.

Rohit spends 40% of his salary on food, 20% on house rent, 10% on entertainment and 10% on conveyance. If his savings at the end of a month are Rs. 1500, then his monthly salary is

Rohit spends for foods = 40%
Rohit spends for rent = 20%
Rohit spends for entertainment = 10%
Rohit spends for conveyance = 10%
Total = 80%
∴ Savings = 100 – 80 = 20% of his salary = 1500
∴ His monthly salary = $${1500} / {20/100}$$ = $$1500 × {100}/ {20}$$ = Rs. 7500
