Five bells begin to toll together and too respectively at intervals of 6, 5, 7, 10 and 12 seconds. How many times will they toll together in one hour excluding the one at the start?
(A) 6 times
(B) 7 times
(C) 8 times
(D) 11 times
Ans: C
L.C.M. of 6, 5, 7, 10 and 12 is 420.
So, the bells will toll together after every 420 seconds i.e. 7 minutes.
Now, 7 * 8 = 56 and 7 * 9 = 63.
Thus, in 1 hour (or 60 minutes), the bells will toll together 8 times, excluding the one at the start.
Question: 7
Reena is twice as old as Sunita. Three years ago, she was three times as old as Sunita. How old is Reena now?
(A) 7 years
(B) 9 years
(C) 12 years
(D) 15 years
Ans: C
Let Sunita's present age be x years.
Then, Reena's present age = 2x years.
Three years ago, Sunita's age = (x - 3) years and Reena's age = (2x - 3) years.
So, (2x - 3) = 3(x - 3)
2x -3 = 3x - 9
⇒ x = 6.
∴ Reena's present age = 2x = 12 years.

(B) 35
(C) 38
(D) 42
Ans: C
Let the number of questions attempted correctly be x.
Then, number of incorrect ones = (60 - x).
∴ 4x - 1 (60 - x) = 130
⇒ 5x = 190
⇒ x = 38.
