Hence, A alone can finish the work in 27 days.

Work done by A in one day is half of the work done by B in one day. Work done by B is half of the work done by C in one day. If C alone can complete the work in 7 days, in how many days can A, B and C together complete the work?

∴ (A + B+ C)’s 1 day’s work = $$({1} / {28} + {1} / {14} + {1} / {7})$$ = $${7} / {28}$$ = $${1} / {4}$$.

A man and a boy received Rs. 800 as wages for 5 day for the work they did together. The man’s efficiency in the work was three times that of the boy. What are the daily wages of the boy?

Ratio of 1 day’s work of man and boy = 3 : 1.

Total wages of the boy = Rs. $$(800 × {1} / {4})$$ = Rs. 200.

A can do a piece of work in 10 days working 8 hours per day. If B is two thirds as efficient as A, then in how many days can B alone do the same piece of work, working 5 hours per day?

Time taken by A alone to do the work = (10 × 8) hrs = 80hrs.

Since B is two thirds as efficient as A, so time taken by B to do the work = $$(80 × {3} / {2})$$hrs = 120 hrs.

∴ Required time = $$({120} / {5})$$days = 24 days.

Ayesha can complete a piece of work in 16 days. Amita can complete the same piece of work in 8 days. If both of them work together in how many days can they complete the same piece of work?

Ayesha’s 1 day’s work = $${1} /{16}$$,

Amita’s 1 day’s work = $${1} / {8}$$

(Ayesha + Amita)’s 1 day’s work = $$({1} /{16} + {1} /{8})$$ = $${3}/{16}$$.

∴ Both together can complete the work in $${16} / {3}$$ = $$5{1}/{3}$$ days.
